Northants Combination round-up: Drayton Grange move a step closer to glory

Drayton Grange moved a step closer to Duston Garage Division One title glory with a 3-1 victory over Kettering Orchard Park.

Leigh Roberts, Matthew Russ and Darren Taylor all netted for Grange, who now sit level on points with Clipston, but with five games in hand on the league leaders.

Weedon moved up to fourth with a 4-2 victory at Wilby. Ashley Brown and Jordan Casey both bagged a brace in the win.

Wootton St George had a close fought game against Heyford Athletic which saw Heyford edge it 3-2.

In the Duston Garage Premier Division, Kieron Flower’s goal couldn’t prevent Brixworth All Saints from losing out 2-1 at Corby S&L Khalsa. Earls Barton United made home advantage count as they recorded an excellent 2-1 win over Welford Victoria.

Harpole held Corby Eagles to a 1-1 draw, leaving the Eagles six points behind league leaders James King Blisworth.Harpole’s goal came from Gary Purton.

High flyers James King Blisworth kept their feet firmly on the gas with a 5-0 win over Moulton.

Andy Seaton led the scoring with a hat-trick while there were singles from Mark Faulkner and Chris Healey.

Roade moved up to sixth thanks to a 2-0 win over Milton with strikes from Oliver Anderson andAndrew Watts.

In Duston Garage Division Two, goals from Mark Cadman and Ashley Newlyn earned West Haddon Albion a 2-0 victory at Higham Town.

Spratton kept up their push for a top two finish with another win over visitors Kislingbury.

Spratton won 2-1 courtesy of Sam Lavelle and an own goal.

In Duston Garage Division Three, James Brown was the matchwinner in Northampton Mereway’s 5-3 victory over Yardley United. Brown scored twice, with singles from Stuart Reid, Tom Wiles and Andrew Wimpress.

Northampton Spartak had no trouble beating bottom markers Inter Corby 3-1 to ensure the push for top spot goes to the wire.

In the Duston Garage Reserve Premier Division, Corby Grampian put a dent in Roade’s hopes of finishing as runners-up with a 4-2 win.

Alex Brunero and James Lock were both on target for Harpole in their 2-1 success at Kettering Nomads Reserves.

Moulton suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Wollaston, while Brixworth remain bottom despite a 7-4 win against Ringstead Rangers.

Aaron McKay scored twice to send Bugbrooke A to a 3-0 defeat to Weldon United.

Bugbrooke B moved to the top of Duston Garage Reserve Division Two with a 3-0 win over West Haddon Albion Reserves.

Luke Tate, Jonathan Tiley, Craig Ball were the men on target.

Title contenders Drayton Grange Reserves sealed a comfortable 4-0 at home to Finedon Volta Reserves.
