Scheduled home games against Carlisle United (March 17) and Oldham Athletic (March 28) have been suspended but the current plan is to rearrange them for a later date.

However, it's a fast-changing situation and the EFL say they will review things again before the scheduled resumption.

Other chairmen, including Accrington Stanley owner Andy Holt, have expressed their concerns over the financial ramifications of having the season postponed or putting matches behind closed doors.

Currently, the Cobblers are hopeful that the season will resume on April 3 and the matches that have been suspended, which include away games at Forest Green and Cambridge United, will be rearranged.

"We can only go on the facts and the information that we have at the moment but our expectation at this point in time is that these games are postponements and they will be played at a later date," said Whiting.

"But there are obviously financial implications, which might be delay to that clash flowing in.

"All I can do is comment on our individual club situation and say that we are very fortunate in that we have good owners and the club's well-funded.

"Any shortfall in cash, they will ensure that things continue as normal as possible and there are no issues so we're very fortunate in that regard and that we do have financial backing with our owners."

Whiting has also advised fans who have matchday tickets for any postponed games to keep those tickets safe.

"People that hold tickets or any bookings or hospitality for those games, they will remain in place for when that game is rescheduled," he added. "We'd ask those people to keep hold of their tickets for that

"At the minute these fixtures have been postponed and they will be rescheduled, but we don't know when.

"We'll let people know as soon as we know but it's the same when a game is called off for bad weather or whatever because the ticket will still be valid for the rearranged game."
