Page: Revell signing '˜speaks volumes' about what the Cobblers have to offer

Ricky Holmes has left Sixfields and headed for Chartlon Athletic, and that is perhaps not surprising as the south London club can boast facilities that are up to Premier League standard.

Danny Rose also rejected a move to Northampton to sign for Portsmouth, with the player citing the Fratton Park facilities and big crowds on the south coast.

They are two bigger clubs that the Cobblers, that cannot be argued, but Page still believes that Northampton has a lot to offer any potential signing, and points to the fact that Revell has left the sumptious surroundings of stadiummk to continue his career at Sixfields.

Revell played in the Sky Bet Championship last season for both Cardiff City and MK Dons, and also had a stint in league one at Wigan Athletic.

Three clubs with impressive stadia and facilities, but Page believes the Cobblers’ facilities are more than up to scratch, and Revell joining the club proves it.

As does the fact Revell turned down an approach from another big club, Sheffield United, to pledge his future to Northampton.

“There was a lot of clubs understandably after Alex’s signature,” said Page.

“I have to thank the chairman and James for this, and the work they have put in and it has been a team effort to get it across the line. Thankfully we won that battle.

“I think it speaks volumes about what we can offer him here at this football club.

“Even the training ground, with what we have got at Moulton now the facilities are second to none, they are superb, and that is important.

“To bring any player down from the Championship, it is the little things that make a big difference.

“Having a base like that training ground, and making the improvements we are going to make, and having a brand-new 3G pitch available to us, makes it that little bit more professional, and enables us to attract the likes of Alex.”

Revell has enjoyed a long career, playing mainly at league one and championship level, and Page believes the Cobblers have landed a class act.

“Alex can score goals, and he is a worker, a grafter, and as a centre-half he is a nightmare to play against,” said the Town boss.

“Physically he will compete, he has a good touch, an eye for goal and his work-rate is phenomenal.

“I want the fans to appreciate what the players are all about, and now doubt they will when they see Alex and the shift that he puts in. I would like to think they will take to him straight away.”

And he added: “Alex brings quality and he brings enthusiasm.

“The first meeting I had with him I knew I had to bring him in to the football club and be part of it.

“He has that wealth of experience and scored goals last season at Championship level, so to come to our level and join a football club that is on the up and full of confidence is a great addition to the squad.”
