ON Chenecks missed the chance to go top of UCL Division One as promotion outsiders Rothwell Corinthians boosted their own prospects with a fifth-successive victory.

George Clarke had an early penalty for Chenecks saved.

In the premier division, Cogenhoe United extended their unbeaten run to seven games with a 2-1 win at Harborough on Tuesday night.

A well-taken Taylor Orosz goal gave the Cooks an 11th-minute advantage.

Kealan Wylie levelled for Harborough after 25 minutes.

Parity proved short-lived as Jack Bowen scored the decisive goal for the visitors after 27 minutes.

Sileby Rangers suffered a 6-2 defeat at Thurnby Nirvana despite taking the lead.

Sileby were ahead after 18 minutes, thanks to Michael Byrne’s third goal in two games.

Thurnby levelled two minutes later through Will Gonga and took the lead after 23 minutes, skipper Matt Melbourne the marksman.

Top scorer Liam Canavan added a home third four minutes past the half hour.

Stuart McMichael put Sileby back in the game after 40 minutes, but the two goal Nirvana margin was restored by Reece Morris in the dying seconds of the opening half.

Canavan’s 25th goal of the season made it five for Thurnby after 56 minutes with Celson Patricinio completing the scoring seven minutes past the hour mark.
