The partnership will see the club have primary use of some pitches at Moulton plus the pitches the club will use will receive additional maintenance investment.

“We already have a great relationship with Moulton in all different areas and we have worked very hard to come up with a solution for our training ground,” said chairman Kelvin Thomas.

“We have looked at a lot of facilities around Northamptonshire in the short time we have owned the club, especially since identifying that we had to improve the training situation.

“It was probably a little unrealistic to think we could develop something for ourselves in the time frame to be ready for this pre-season, but as has been previously reported we did have some discussion regarding purchasing or leasing Wootton Hall Park and working with the existing clubs there, however late in that process Northamptonshire County Council decided to develop that green space for housing.

“However we have always been in dialogue with Moulton as it is well known that the overall facilities there are first class, but the main problem last year was once the bad weather came it made things very difficult as the pitches tended to hold water and were not usable for too long.

“Together with the college we are making the necessary investment to improve the drainage plus additional maintenance of the pitches throughout the year and therefore this extra investment and the steps taken will provide a fantastic training base and environment for Rob, his management staff and the players.

“Rob has been up there and was very impressed with everything and the ability to use the cryotherapy chamber, the therapy pool, the swimming pool and the other facilities are all added bonuses for him and the preparation of the players.

“Moulton are also investing in a new 3G surface which will not only help in the winter it will also benefit our academy and community activities, including our multi disability teams.

“Therefore, with the improvements and investment being made in conjunction with Moulton College, and with the additional facilities and support we get, it means we have made great progress with our training facilities and we are looking forward to enjoying and developing this base.”
