The defender has been staggered by the backing the team has received both on the road and at home this season, and says the support really does make a difference to the players.

With the home seats sold out since Wednesday morning, and Cambridge set to fill the south stand as well, it should be a great afternoon on Saturday.

“It is brilliant, and you even see at our away games that the supporters are there in numbers,” said Moloney.

“It is a great feeling for us as players to see that, and we can look forward to another full house on Saturday and it is going to be a great atmosphere.”

The Irishman is also delighted at the positivity of the Cobblers support, even in difficult moments in games, and said: “The fans never jump on us.

“They are always supporting us and urging us on, and that is a great feeling when you are a player when you see and hear that.

“That is a credit to the supporters, we have got ourselves into a good position, and hopefully we can do the business for them.”

The Cobblers take on Cambridge protecting a 13-match unbeaten run.

They are 13 points clear at the top of the table, and 19 points clear of fourth-placed Portsmouth, but Moloney insists there is still no talk of promotion or titles in the Sixfields changing room.

“We just want to keep going and see how far we can go,” said Moloney.

“We want to keep taking each game as it comes, and not taking our foot off the gas, because if you do that, you know what happens.

“So we go into Saturday, get the three points and then see how the other teams have done.

“Then we go into the next Saturday, get the points, and see how the other teams have done. That is what we have been doing all season.”

Manager Chris Wilder has spoken in the past about the players policing themselves, and Moloney admits there is an excellent spirit in the Sixfields camp.

“We have a great set of lads, and we all want the same thing. That is what we are here for,” he said.

“We have a really good team, and it is everything else too, there is the togetherness and everybody is fighting for each other. It is great to have that spirit.”
