Missilou wants more of the same from Cobblers when they take on Charlton

Match-winning midfielder Christoper Missilou says the Cobblers have got to follow up Tuesday night's crucial 2-1 win over Swindon Town with another big performance when Charlton Athletic come calling to the PTS Academy Stadium this weekend.

Town ended a run of four straight defeats in Sky Bet League One in midweek, with Missilou scoring the first goal and then creating the second for striker Danny Rose.

They were first strikes in Cobblers colours for both players, and the 2-0 cushion they gave the team in the opening half-hour proved to be enough as Keith Curle's men held off a Swindon fightback to bag the three points.

Missilou was named man of the match for his showing against the Robins, and that was certainly a great way to bounce back from being dropped from the squad for last Saturday's 2-1 loss at Plymouth Argyle.

The Frenchman, who signed on at the PTS from Oldham Athletic in the summer, is well aware that the Town boss is going to be fully utilising his squad this season, and said he knew that after being left out, he had to be ready to impress if called upon.

"I had to be ready for when the manager called me, and be ready to give 100 per cent for the team," said Missilou.

"After we lost the last four games, everybody had to be ready to deliver three points

"For me it was really good because I scored, and we left with the win which is so important for everybody. It is a big three points for us."

The win lifted the Cobblers out of the league one relegation zone and up to 16th in the table, but they face a tough run of games over the next week or so.

On the next two Saturdays they face teams relegated from the Championship last season in Charlton and Wigan Athletic, with a trip to Portsmouth sandwiched in between next Tuesday.

They are certainly a trio of fixtures that quickly focus the mind, and ahead of the Addicks' visit to the PTS this Saturday, Missilou made it clear he knows the win over Swindon can't be just a one-off.

"When you lose a few games it is very difficult mentally, so to win on Tuesday was good and it is not finished because on Saturday we now have a big game and we must be ready for that," he said.

"Charlton are a good team and it is going to be a hard game, but if you give 100 per cent then you can win these games."
