'˜It's all about us' says Page as Cobblers hit the road to Oldham

Like Northampton, the Latics have a new manager at the helm in former Northern Ireland international Steve Robinson, who took the reins following John Sheridan’s decision to leave the club in May and and take over at Notts County.

Robinson has been busy since taking charge in July, and has brought a whole host of new faces to Boundary Park, including former Cobblers striker Billy McKay on a season-long loan from Wigan Athletic.

Oldham have enjoyed a mixed start to the season, losing 3-0 on the opening day at Millwall before seeing off Championship side Wigan in the EFL Cup and then drawing 0-0 at home with Walsall on Saturday.

The amount of new faces mean they are something of an unknown proposition for Page, despite the fact he took his Port Vale team to Oldham as recently as March, securing a 1-1 draw.

But he insists he isn’t focusing on what Oldham can or cannot do, and that it is more about the Cobblers concentrating on doing their own job.

Town are unbeaten in their three games so far this season, drawing their two league games 1-1 and knocking Barnsley out of the EFL Cup, stretching the club’s incredible record-breaking unbeaten run in all competitions that stretches back to mid-January.

“I thought at the end of last season when we played them when John Sheridan was there, he had turned the corner from being rock bottom to pulling them way out of the relegation zone,” said Page, whose players are facing their third away game in the space of eight busy days.

“They were a club on the up towards the end of last season, but a new manager has gone in and he has put his own stamp on things.

“I have watched the game from the weekend against Walsall (which ended 0-0) and I thought they were unlucky not to win the game.

“I thought they created the chance in the last five or 10 minutes and they should have won, so it will be difficult.

“They will be well organised, they don’t half work hard for each other, and they can hurt you as well, so we will respect that.

“But once again, the message to the boys is ‘it is about us’.

“It is about us recreating the levels of performance that we have done, and if we do that we stand a good chance of winning the game.”

And he added: “The new manager wants to go in an take his own players in, and it is working for him at the minute.

“He has had a positive result in the league cup, and they should have beat Walsall on Saturday.

“I think they are another club that, after six games, supporters will be interested to see where they are at.

“That’s when the manager will start to be judged on whether the players he has brought in have had a positive impact on the club.

“Up to now it looks like they have done.”
