Fleetwood fully prepared for Cobblers opener, insists new boss Rosler
New Fleetwood Town head coach Uwe Rosler insists he and his players are fully prepared and raring to go for the visit to Sixfields this weekend despite being less than a week into the job.
Following the surprise and untimely resignation of previous boss Steven Pressley, who stepped down after a meeting with the owners, former Leeds and Wigan boss Rosler was appointed as new head coach last Saturday.
The 47-year-old German played a key role in reviving Brentford’s fortunes in 2013-14 when the Bees won promotion from League One, but that was followed by two unsuccessful spells at Wigan Athletic and Leeds United.
He’s returns to the dugout with Fleetwood, though, with his first game in charge coming this weekend at Sixfields, and despite overseeing only a handful of training sessions with his new players, Rosler believes they are in good shape to take on Northampton.
“I think we are prepared,” he told the club website this week. “It was a very busy week but the players helped me a lot.
“The current staff have also been very helpful to me, giving me valuable information about the players – their strengths and weaknesses and performance levels and what I can expect from certain players.
“It is now up to us to stand up and focus on our game, coping with the physicality of League One football, especially from a physical Northampton team, and then play our football, be brave to attack, be brave to go to Northampton and think in the mindset of winning.
“I think that will take us a long way.”
Rosler also says he has an idea of how the Cobblers will play under Rob Page, adding: “I know their manager,
“I know how he played at Port Vale, I went quite a bit over there and watched his team, so I think he’ll put his style on the Northampton team.
“We are aware of their strengths and areas we can hurt them, they are a newly promoted team have momentum going for them, they have made some good signings and will want to start off with a victory, but we have talent in our team, and on our day can beat anybody in the league. We are up for the fight, the direct style and the duels.”
