Striker Joe Nuttall may be something of an unknown quantity to Cobblers supporters but his arrival on loan from Blackpool has been a long time in the making for manager Keith Curle.

The Town boss has tracked Nuttall ever since he emerged through Manchester City's academy at the age of 18 in 2015.

And whilst his career has stalled in recent years, particularly last season when he managed just four goals in 33 appearances, Curle believes he can coax the best out of the 23-year-old, much like he did with Vadaine Oliver.

"Joe is a player who has been on my radar for a few years now and someone I have been keen on working with," said Curle.

"We have monitored his progress from when he was a youngster at Manchester City and then through his time at Blackburn when he scored goals at both League One and Championship level.

"Joe is a player who will feel at home with us and will buy in to the culture we have created. We have high standards and demand that of each other, we have a strong work ethic and a togetherness and like our other new recruits, he will fit in well with the group.

"He is big, strong, powerful and has an eye for goal. He can be a handful for defenders and it will be a benefit to all parties to have him with us for the season.

"We are looking forward to working with Joe and to welcoming him to the club."
