The Cobblers have terminated the contract of a second youth system product in the space of a few days with the announcement that Connor Roberts has left the club.
On Monday, 20-year-old striker David Moyo was allowed the leave Northampton, and has since signed for Conference North side Brackley Town.
Now Roberts, who is just 18 and has been on loan at Southern League Premier Division outift Biggleswade Town this season, is the latest player to be told he is surplus to requirements.
The young full-back, who could also play in central defence, was given a professional contract by Aidy Boothroyd in the summer of 2013, but never made a first team appearance.
The young duo of Moyo and Roberts follow Kelvin Langmead, Ricky Ravenhill and Alex Nicholls out of the Sixfields exit door as manager Chris Wilder reshapes his squad after a disappointing first half to the season.
