The Cobblers have recalled goalkeeper Dean Snedker from his loan spell at Vanarama North club Brackley Town.
Snedker will return to the fold for Town’s home game with Hartlepool United on Tuesday night to cover Matt Duke’s thigh injury.
Duke is expected to be out for between two and four weeks with a thigh problem that affects his kicking; he was on the bench at Newport on Saturday but the club has now received scan results and the diagnosis is total rest.
Snedker had been with Brackley since the start of the season and had played all of their games so far this season.
On-loan Spurs keeper Jordan Archer played the full 90 minutes at Newport and is expected to keep his place for the visit of Hartlepool but Snedker will provde some competition for the jersey.
When Archer was away on international duty, for the game at Dagenham & Redbridge 10 days ago, first-year scholar Brendan Brown was the club’s bench goalkeeper.
