Cobblers given injury boost ahead of busy Christmas schedule

Cobblers boss Keith Curle has delivered a positive update on the injury situation ahead of tomorrow's Checkatrade Trophy tie with Cambridge United.

Curle has been without the services of influential midfielder Matt Crooks for the past month following the ankle injury he picked up against Crewe Alexandra, while Dean Bowditch has only made 11 appearances all season.

But both are nearing a return and with Junior Morias available again after suspension, Curle has plenty of options to pick from going into the typically busy festive programme.

“Matt is back out training on the grass and it’s just about timing and how many minutes we’re able to get into him either tomorrow night or potentially on Saturday,” said Curle.

“He’s taking steps in the right direction, same as Dean Bowditch, but there are four or five players that are itching to get involved tomorrow – but I want to win a game of football for the club.”
