Cobblers attacker Dean Bowditch has joined Sky bet League Two side Stevenage on loan for the rest of the season.
The former Milton Keynes Dons and Ipswich Town man joined the Cobblers in the summer when he was signed by then boss Justin Edinburgh on a two-year contract, but has struggled to nail down a first team place.
He was utilised fairly regularly as a substitute earlier in the season, but in the past couple of months has struggled to even feature in the match day squad under manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
“Dean’s opportunities have been limited and he will benefit by going out and playing first team football,” said Hasselbaink, who hasn’t used Bowditch since December 2 last year, when he came on as a second-half substitute in the 2-0 Checktrade Trophy defeat at Portsmouth.
“He is keen to do that and I think this is a good move for all of us. We wish him well at Stevenage.”
In all, Bowditch made five starts and 11 substitute appearances for the Cobblers this season, failing to hit the target.
He made only three starts in Sky Bet League One, with the most recent being in the 6-0 home hammering at the hands of Bristol Rovers back on October 7.
Bowditch is the eighth player to depart Sixfields in the January transfer window, and will team up with another former Cobblers forward at Broadhall Way, with striker Alex Revell joining Stevenage on a permanent basis from Town on Tuesday.
