The final scoreline should be no reflection on his performance. Superb reaction save to deny Barnett early on was his best moment, but he also produced good stops to keep out Varney, Dawson and Clements... 7 CHRON STAR MAN
Booked for a rash challenge inside 10 minutes and that set the tone for his toughest afternoon in a Cobblers shirt. Walked a tightrope from that moment, with his poor clearing header putting Hughes in trouble for the penalty... 5

Should have cut out Dawson's low cross before it reached Varney for a tap-in, but he was Town's best defender on the day. Won a number of important headers as crosses rained down on the visitors' penalty box... 6
Thrown into the deep end by Curle. Varney and Barnett are a challenging forward pair for anyone to handle, let alone a young lad on his debut. Gave away the spot-kick, though wasn't exactly helped out by his team-mates... 5
Couldn't get to grips with the marauding Broom in the first-half as Cheltenham's impressive wing-back regularly worked space to send in a series of dangerous crosses. The hosts were always a threat down their right side... 5
Teenager's return to the first-team only lasted 45 minutes. Can count himself a touch unfortunate to be subbed at half-time having been far from the worst offender in the opening period... 6
Unwisely surrendered possession outside his own penalty box and was suitably punished, putting Cobblers on the back foot. Not the only time it happened on a day to forget for the unusually out-of-sorts midfielder... 5
Looked set to rifle home another thunderbolt when the ball dropped kindly for him to shoot 20 yards out, but not to be this time. Another one sacrificed at the break, harshly so... 5
Found very little change out of his full-back and got no more joy when moved into a central role. Cobblers were a blunt attacking force for much of the game... 5
There were some early signs of a promising partnership developing with Williams but he regularly dropped too deep to have an impact where it counts, creating a chasm between Town's defence and midfield... 5
Outnumbered against Cheltenham's three centre-backs but had some initial joy when Town looked to find him with the early ball, however chances were non-existent and his impact dried up... 6
Excellent late free-kick was too little too late... 7
Sent on at the break to beef up Cobblers in attack but it continued to be too easy for the home defence... 6
Little impact as a late sub... 6
