Sanderson’s figures of six for 58 were hugely impressive, especially considering Leicestershire were able to rack up a massive 519 all out.

Ned Eckersley’s third consecutive first-class century saw the away side take control before reducing David Ripley’s men to 142 for four at the close of day two.

Leicestershire piled on the runs despite Sanderson’s heroics and they then struck early in the Northants reply.

Rob Keogh and Rob Newton did provide some resistance as they both made it to the half-century mark.

Newton remains unbeaten on 69 heading into day three, but Northants are now trailing by 377 runs and have a lot of work on to save the game.
