Northants batsman Ben Duckett has been handed a chance to impress after being named in an England XI to take on a Cricket Australia XI in Perth this weekend.

The two-day warm-up match ahead of next week's third Test match at the WACA is being staged at Richardson Park in Perth, and Duckett is one of a clutch of England Lions players who have been drafted in.

England have decided to rest 10 of the team that lost the second Test in Adelaide, with only off-spinning all-rounder Moeen Ali surviving, and he captains the team.

He is joined in the 12-man squad for the Cricket Australia date with the five players that did not play in Adelaide, plus six from the Lions, , who are now based in Perth at a training camp.

As well as Duckett, the other Lions players named are Keaton Jennings, Dan Lawrence, Jack Leach, Liam Livingstone and Mark Wood.

The Lions have played one friendly match while Down Under, drawing with a Queensland XI at the end of November, with Duckett scoring 21 in his innings as the three-day clash was drawn.
