Cobblers have completed the signing of right-sided midfielder Alistair Slowe on a one year contract, subject to international clearance.
Brighton born Slowe, 21, was previously with Cypriot club Onisilos Sotira.
He played youth football for his hometown club on the south coast before moving to Ghana in 2006 for family reasons.
Having starred in the African country for club side Cantonments for two seasons he moved to Cyprus with Onisilos Sotira.
Here he also shone and attracted the interest of a number of English clubs.
"Alistair is a young player with a hunger and desire to make the most of the opportunity we have offered him," said boss Ian Sampson.
"We are looking to give a chance to young players and we are pleased that he will be joining us. He is a right sided midfielder and a player we can work with to develop.
"He is not the finished article yet but he has potential and good technical ability. He gives us something in an area where we were looking to add and is a welcome addition.
"Because he has been abroad he has slipped under the radar a little but we are happy to give him the opportunity and take a bit of a chance with him."
