Northants Thunder kept their play-off hopes alive with a 93-72 Junior Men’s East Midlands Development League victory.

Six Thunder players managed to score in double figures, with David Nieva top scoring with 20 points.

Ollie Thomas racked up 17, while Ayo Oluyede claimed 16.

After their impressive win against Team Solent the previous week Thunder went into this National League Division Three South Conference game in optimistic mood.

However, they were under-strength and found it difficult from the outset.

In the defeat, Danny Barrett led the Thunder scoring with 22 points including six, three-pointers.

The only other Thunder players able to get into double figures were Richard Higgins and Johnny Yates with 10 points apiece.

Ilkeston Outlaws 64

Northants Thunder 61

Going in to the third period of this Midlands Development League game, the weakened Thunder team led Outlaws 32-27.

But a horrendous third period was to cost Thunder
dear as the Ilkeston outfit fought back to claim the victory.

Josh Lloyd and Ed Taylan led the Thunder scoring with 22 and 18 points respectively, but the only other Thunder player to make any significant contribution was Noah Wilborn.

Shropshire Warriors 93

Northants Thunder 65

Thunder travelled to Telford last Saturday, to take on Shropshire Warriors a team that had only lost four games in the Under 14 Boys Midlands Development League.

And Thunder weren’t able to get the win, with a tough second quarter, which was lost 33-4, proving crucial.

Jude Carmichael and Oliver Dominique top scored for Thunder with 25 and 24 points respectively, while rookie Ashley Kitchen contributed nine points.

Northants Lightning 45

Brentwood Fire 56

After their mauling at the hands of Ipswich the previous week, Lightning turned in a much more encouraging performance in this Under 14 Girls East Midlands Development League clash.

No Lightning player was able to score in double figures, but Chloe Amena, Dina Kosnikovska, Ruby Mabbutt, Lucy Needham and Ony Onwumechili all made significant points contributions.
