Redfins were queuing up to feed in Wellingborough’s Ringstead Nene do where 21 out of 24 weighed-in in the club’s first match of the year.

MILES away in the middle of Newport Pagnell, Kevin Osborne was busy cashing-in in even finer style on the Ouzel near where it joins the Ouse, bagging – a few dace apart – 20-6 of roach as he fished maggot under stickfloat on running line in an MKAA match. Bob Gale was next with 18-14 of worm perch.

UPSTREAM on another Ouse Tributary, the Tove, Mick Goodridge was busy winning the Towcester/Nene sweep from a totally unfancied swim. Following a slow start he switched from whip to pole and netted a hundred or so fish – roach to 10 ounces and dace to six – to win with 17-12. John Broughton had 10-7 and Dave Gibbins 5-4.

AND the embryonic Ouse at Buckingham didn’t fish too bad for Calvert, either, as Ben Holloway won there with 12-9.

TRAKKER Clothing’s Lawrence East had 24 carp to 21lb from 35 runs in 24 hours on Drayton. Leon Butcher had a 20-2.

Snowy Ashington and Richard Edmunds were third on weight in a five-point tie with Dave Martin and Lee Jones.
