Supporters of migrants joined forces in Northampton to celebrate the contribution of migrants to the town, which coincided with UN World Day of Social Justice.
The evening was part of a day called, ‘1 Day Without Us’ and was hosted by the Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council and Diverse Communities Forum with support from Northampton Borough Council.
The evening went ahead at 7pm on Monday, February 20 and consisted of a performance of music and poetry by Northamptonshire-based artists.
Co-organiser, Laney Holland said: “It was a really positive evening, there were lots of people that attended.
“Despite the tabloids stance on migrants, locally we are lucky to have migrant workers here in the town."
Earlier on that day, at 1pm, residents of the town were also invited to take part in a unifying action on social media and were asked to post photos of themselves linking arms or holding up placards, using the hashtag #1DayWithoutUs.
