Young people aged 14 to 25, from the Northampton area, are being invited to express interest in taking a free stall as part of Love Your Local Market fortnight from May 17 to 31.

Depending on the level of interest received, potential stallholders will be able to have a free pitch during the fortnight or take part in a separate market day for young people. Under 16s will require supervision from a parent or guardian.

Market officers from Northampton Borough Council will guide potential traders through the process of becoming a stall holder, including helping with public liability insurance. Any young people who get a taste for market trading from the experience and would like to become a regular market trader will receive follow up support from the team.

Councillor Jonathan Nunn, Northampton Borough Council portfolio holder for markets, said: “We are keen to give young people an opportunity to showcase their ideas and take their first steps into business. Having a free stall during Love Your Local Market fortnight is the perfect opportunity to experience market trading for the first time, get a feel for what it is like to work in a market environment and to try out potential business ideas.”

For more information about applying to have a free stall contact the market team at Northampton Borough Council on 07979 747081 or email [email protected]
