Niki Holloway said she is looking forward to the final renovation but said the building in its current state looks a bit of an "eyesore."

A spokeswoman from Northamptonshire Partnership Homes said the works include recladding the outside, refurbishing communal areas and adding a ground floor extension.

She said: “The yellow colour on St Katherine’s Court is cladding. We want to make a positive impact in the area and modernise homes in Spring Boroughs, an area of town with a rich heritage and a vibrant multicultural community.

We’re refurbishing the outside of this block, adding a ground floor extension and building a bin and bike storage for residents living there.

“Residents from St Katherine’s Court and in the surrounding area were invited to many different events locally in May last year to view our plans and hear their ideas before a decision was made on the design and approved”.

“The work at St Katherine's Court is part of a major development in Spring Boroughs which will include new council homes built in Little Cross Street, Lower Bath Street and Althorp Street."
