A 36-year-old woman has appeared in court accused of threatening police officers and staff at House of Fraser in Northampton with a knife.

Sian Davies, of no fixed abode, appeared at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday after she was charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

Davies is accused of pushing over display stands in the House of Fraser store in the Grosvenor Centre in Northampton on Sunday.

Sukhy Singh, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said Davies was accused of threatening to attack a member of staff and later threatening police offcers who attended the scene.

During the incident, shoppers were evacuated from the store.

Davies offered no plea to either charge. The case was adjourned to be heard at Northampton Crown Court next month. Davies was remanded in custody.
