A yellow weather alert has been cancelled for tomorrow as forecasters predict a band of snow is now likely to stay over the Welsh hills and West Midlands.

But a fresh warning for snow and ice for a 48-hour period from late Monday through to Wednesday night — and BBC forecaster Stav Danaos summed it up by saying: "Tuesday looks like being a bit of an atrocious day."
A Met Office spokesman said: "A band of rain, locally heavy in places, is likely to push slowly northeast across Wales and England late Monday.
"As this rain comes into contact with cold air in place, it is likely to readily turn to snow across parts of the Midlands. Up to four centimetres of snow is quite likely away from coasts with up to 10cms possible on higher ground.

And there looks to be no let up with a spell of even colder weather predicted for next weekend.
