The five-month-old chocolate-coloured cocker spaniel, which is called Poppy, is claimed to be stolen by a man in a white ford transit connect van at around 4.20pm yesterday.

Owners, Gilly Wrathall and James Sealy are appealing on Facebook for anybody who has seen their dog or the driver who has taken her.

Talking to the Chronicle and Echo, a friend of the couple said: “Everyone is understandably heartbroken by Poppy being stolen yesterday, not least James’s five-year-old son, Tom.

“If you have been offered a cocker spaniel puppy or have suspicions about who may have her, please do the right thing, we just want Poppy home.”

The pup is reported to have a docked tail, a small area of white hair on her bottom lip and is chipped.

Further action has been taken by the family to get their pet back.

Witnesses, or anyone with information, are asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101. Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
