Elderly people in Northampton have been warned by police about a woman calling at homes and asking for money.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said officers had received a number of reports of a woman approaching pensioners in their own homes.

“The woman uses different approaches and portrays herself as vulnerable, before asking the householder for money.

“She is described as white, 5ft 6in, slim and about 40-years-old. She has light brown, shoulder length hair and a local accent,” he said.

Officers are asking anyone who may have been approached by the woman, or any relatives concerned that she may have called on a family member, to contact police. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant Wyn Hughes, Northamptonshire Police, on 101.
