'Wanted' man walks out of cannabis factory house in Northampton... straight into team of police
A large cannabis farm was found in a Northampton house after patrolling police spotted a wanted man leaving a house in the town.
Northamptonshire Police's Proactive team tweeted about the unusual arrest yesterday evening.
The team were pulling over a car on an unrelated matter in Whitworth Road, Abington, when the officers in an unmarked car noticed a "wanted male" pass by.
A Proactive Team officer gave chase on foot, but could not catch the man.
However, when they searched the address the man had just walked out of, they discovered a cannabis factory at the address.
"Bad times for him," the officers tweeted from the Proactive Team account at around 6pm yesterday. "En route to custody."
A Northamptonshire Police spokeswoman said 171 plants were discovered at the Whitworth Road address, which would have a street value of £85,000 by conservative estimates.
Officers also discovered between £5,000 and £8,000 worth of cocaine.
The 19-year-old man who fled was eventually arrested.
He remains in custody today.
