An innovative new ID verification service that can be downloaded on to a mobile phone is to be launched in Northampton.
After a successful trial in Corby, Dermot Dennehy is introducing PubCheckin to the town, an app that can be downloaded on to a smartphone.
The ID checker, which costs £12, allows people aged over 18 to have their details verified by an international data intelligence agency.
After downloading the PubCheckin app, customers are given a QR code that can be scanned by door staff as they enter a pub or nightclub.
A total of 23 premises in Northampton have signed up for PubCheckin, including NB’s, Barratts Club and The Eastgate.
Mr Dennehy said he believed the new ID checker would save people money as the £12 costs was a lot less than having to pay for a replacement driving licence or passport.

He said: “A lot of parents worry about their children taking out their passport or driving licence as a form of ID. As a father I know how costly it has been to replace a passport.

Mr Dennehy said PubCheckIn also had advantages for the pubs and bars as they could use the app to send drinks offers and other promotions directly to customers once they were inside their venue.
There are 1,000 free IDs available to people in Northampton before March 7. People need to use the promo code ITSFREE814. To find out more or to download one of the free Ids go to Pubcheckin
