Nearly ten million people worlwide have watched a Northampton man peeling a potato with a drill.
Sam Dowling, 23, from Parklands decided to peel some potatoes with a drill, filmed it, put it on the internet and the footage ‘Peeling Spuds like a Boss’ has now been viewed across the world.
Sam, who is a plumber and cooking enthusiast, said: “I posted a video of peeling spuds using a DeWalt drill. Through the group ‘The LAD Bible’ it’s now been seen by nearly 10 million people and has near on 200k likes.
“That’s 9.1 million views in the space of 15 hours. I originally shared the video through my Instagram account sdowling2502 which then went on through Facebook and was viewed by 2.2k people on my page.
“It then fell into the hands of the LAD Bible and the rest is history. I’ve had people contact me from Canada and New Zealand to congratulate me.”
Sam came up with the clever idea when he was peeling potatoes at home and spotted his dad’s drill box on the side,
He said: “We thought ‘why not give it a go’. That was attempt number three. The first attempt flew off and hit Dad on the chin but no one was injured during the making of this video!
“We found the perfect drill bit sterilised it. It would be great to see the idea put into practice with some safer alternative that can take the chore of peeling spuds out of the equation.”
Sam said he will continue to peel potatoes using the drill, adding: “I will always be peeling my spuds like a boss.”
