VIDEO: Heavy haulage vehicle arrives on site of Greyfriars bus station in Northampton ahead of tower and bridge demolition

A wide load heavy haulage vehicle has arrived at Greyfriars bus station ahead of the demolition of a connecting tower and bridge.

The huge vehicle pulled up at the site earlier this morning in preparation for the start of the demolition work.

Tonight (Friday) and over the weekend the vehicle and other equipment will be used to demolish a tower building and bridge connected to Greyfriars bus station.

While the work is carried there will be road closure and diversions in place.

Lady’s Lane will be closed between 7pm tonight (Friday) and 6am on Monday January 26 as the work is carried out.

Sheep Street will be closed from Greyfriars to Lady’s Lane and Lady’s Lane will be closed to traffic from Sheep Street to Victoria Street.

Diversions for motorists will see them directed left down Sheep Street, right down Church Lane and then right again down Victoria Street.

It means National Express coaches should be able to exit Victoria Street as normal.

The demolition of the Greyfriars bus station itself will take place before the end of March this year.
