A foal has been reunited with its mother after getting trapped in an underground pipe.

Firefighters from Kettering and the animal rescue unit from Wellingborough were called out to an area several fields behind Bosworths Garden Centre in Burton Latimer this morning.

A spokesman for the fire service said: “A pump from Kettering Fire Station and the animal rescue unit from Wellingborough aided in the rescue of a six-week-old foal which had become trapped in an underground culvert pipe in a field.

“The call came in at 9.41am today and the rescue took about 30 minutes.

“The foal was assessed by a vet and then reunited with its mother.”

Vicky Townsend from Kettering Dog Walkers and Pet Services was out walking with several dogs at the time and took this video of the fire service at the scene.
She said: “It was the dogs that kept going over there, I was convinced it was a rabbit.

“But they kept running back to the pipe.”
