Firefighters have been called to a fire at the former St Edmund’s Hospital site.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said three engines had been sent to the derelict site to deal with a fire on the second floor.

Police have closed an access road near Wellingborough Road for public safety.

At about 1.20pm, David Mackintosh, leader of Northampton Borough Council, said he had been told by the fire service that the blaze was “under control”.
