Police investigating the mass brawl in Bridge Street, Northampton, said the stabbings started inside Faces nightclub and the fight outside involved up to 60 people.
Officers were called after a fight which broke out in Faces bar at about 4am, during which a number of people suffered stab wounds and other injuries. Eight people are in hospital, six with stab wounds.
Detective Inspector Ally White said: “The stabbings happened inside Faces nightclub and it continued on afterwards outside in Bridge Street.”
Around 50 to 60 people were involved in the fight, with Det Insp White adding that there was a pre-arranged meeting in one of the bars in Northampton which some people having travelled up from London.
Det Insp White said: “Police were called at about 4am this morning following reports of serious public disorder in Bridge Street involving around 50 or 60 people.
“During the disturbance, eight people were injured. Three are currently being treated in University Hospital Coventry, one of whom is in a serious condition. The others are in a stable condition.
“Three others are also being treated for stab wounds in Northampton General Hospital, while two more have been treated for other injuries.
“A disturbance of this scale is an unusual occurrence in Northampton and we are asking anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident, and who may have information about it, to get in touch.”
