A group of four festive singers sang loudly to entertain the crowds while helpers handed out free cans of chilled Coke and Diet Coke to passers by.

People were also able to queue up and have a picture taken beside the big red lorry adorned with bright lights and a picture of a laughing Santa Claus drinking a bottle of the soft drink.

The visit is part of the lorry’s 45-stop tour around the UK, which began last month and will run until December 23.

The lorry will remain in Northampton until 8pm tonight.
