A designer shopping village has closed today following a large fire which broke out earlier this morning.

Eight fire crews were called to Bicester Village in Oxfordshire just before 9am this morning.

It is believed that the fire started near Carluccio’s restaurant.

The entire shopping village - which attracts shoppers from miles around - has been closed for the day.

Bicester Village tweeted: “#bicestervillage is closed today due to a fire and is likely to remain closed for the rest of the day.”

A further tweet said: “#BicesterVillage is temporarily closed due to a restaurant fire which is being attended to by fire brigade. Happily everyone on site is safe.”
