UPDATE: Road by Northampton Town stadium reopened following head-on crash

A road near Sixfields stadium in Northampton was closed in both directions throughout today after a head-on collision between a car and a secure van.

The air ambulance was called out to the scene of the accident on Edgar Mobbs Way between the A5076 Upton Way junction and the Harvey Reeves Road junction this morning.

A secure G4S van and a silver car were involved in a collision at 10.40am.

Edgar Mobbs Way was closed in both directions while emergency services attend the scene fro more than four hours.

The 20-year-old drive of the silver car was taken to Northampton General Hospital with sa suspected facture to his leg.

Though a secure van was involved in the collision, police are not treating the incident as suspicious.
