Two men stole a 95-year-old woman’s handbag containing a photograph of her late husband after one of them tricked his way into her home in a village near Northampton.
The incident happened in Banbury Lane, Rothershorpe, at about 1.30pm on Saturday, 16 April. A man engaged the lady in conversation at her front door while a second man got in through the back and stole her Jasper Conran bag.
The offenders then ran to a big white saloon type car parked nearby and drove away.
The handbag stolen had chrome fixings at the bottom of its handles and contained a black wallet, a black purse and a black folder containing a photo of the victim’s late husband. It also contained cash.
The offender who stood at the front door is described as white and scruffy looking with a short, stocky build, a round unshaven face, and is about 5ft 6in. He spoke with a local accent and was wearing a hat and a black jacket.
The man who went into the house was also white, slightly taller than the other one and was wearing a beige mac with the hood up.
Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area around the same time and who saw the car and/ or the offenders to get in touch.
Witnesses, or anyone with information, are asked to contact Northamptonshire Police on 101.
