Two men accused of involvement in 'drink-fuelled violence' outside Rushden nightclub

Jordan Murdoch, 26, of Cambridge Street, Wellingborough, and Brandon Cox, 26, of Croft Way, Rushden, entered no plea at Wellingborough Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (November 16) to charges of affray.

The court heard that at 3am on June 26, a fight broke out outside Fate in Rushden’s High Street.

In the brawl, one man was seen to be stamped on and kicked while on the floor and knocked unconscious.

The incident was captured on CCTV, and it is alleged that both Cox and Murdoch committed affray.

Cox was later arrested in Albert Road but two other men fled the scene.

Prosecuting, Jerena Tomaszewska said: “This was drink-fuelled violence in the early hours of the morning.

“[There were] stamps and kicks to a man on the floor who was knocked unconscious.”

The pair were granted conditional bail to appear before Northampton Crown Court on December 14.

Defending, Jenny Evans asked for the date to be put back so Murdoch could concentrate on university exams - something which chairman of the bench David Young dismissed.

He said: “It is unsuitable for this court and it will be sent to Northampton Crown Court on December 14.”
