Police were alerted to the vehicles by Church’s staff after the travellers were discovered this morning on part of the company’s land that formerly belonged to the closed bus depot.

It is understood the travellers gained access to the secured site via Lincoln Road.

As it is a civil matter, officers have passed the issue on to the Countywide Traveller Unit (CTU).

“The land is privately owned and the Countywide Traveller Unit has been liaising with the landowner to advise them what action they can take.”
