Traveller encampment on Northampton park to be served eviction papers tomorrow

Eviction papers are about to be served on a traveller encampment currently at the Racecourse in Northampton.

As of this morning, there were three vehicles and three caravans situated in the park near a public footpath.

Members of the Countywide Traveller Unit, which works on behalf of Northamptonshire County Council to liaise with traveller sites, made contact with the encampment this morning.

A Northamptonshire County Council spokesman, speaking on behalf of the unit, said: “There are currently three caravans at he Racecourse.

“We are starting court proceedings and will be serving an eviction notice tomorrow.”
