Serious crash shuts two lanes on M1 in Northamptonshire

A serious crash has blocked two lanes of the M1 northbound near Northampton on Tuesday lunchtime.

Highways England are warning drivers to avoid the area and say it could take more than three hours to clear the carriageway.

Tailbacks are already stretching back to Newport Pagnell on the northbound side.

A spokesman for AA travel news, which first reported the accident at around 11.30am, said: "There is three miles of queuing traffic with lanes two and three blocked at the scene of the acccident less than a mile before Junction 15."
