Traffic disruption after lorry full of gravel catches fire

Motorists faced disruption on a road in Northampton this morning after a lorry load of gravel caught fire.

Emergency services were called out to St Leonard’s Road in Far Cotton after the lorry caught fire at about 10am.

The fire was quickly extinguished and the police put a number a lane closures in place to direct traffic around the lorry.

A police spokesman said the cordon had now been lifted and the lorry was due to be removed in the next couple of hours.
