Sequins – check; glitter – check; fake tan – check; false eyelashes – check; dancing shoes – double check; Strictly fan? – you bet!
If you can’t get enough of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, then an annual charity show at Northampton’s Derngate is sure to set your toes twinkling.
Strictly Northampton is taking place at Derngate on Saturday, November 19, and you can get to see ordinary people step out of their comfort zones to shake their stuff to raise money for charity.
The show is once again being organised by Step by Step Dance School in Henry Street, Northampton, and owner, Andrzej Mialkowski, recently won a major award for his contribution to Latin and Ballroom dancing.
“It is absolutely brilliant,” says Andrzej. “We’ve got some fantastic people involved and it will be a great night out for all the family.
“Do not miss it!”
Andrzej set up the first Strictly Northampton in 2010 and, since then, the show – plus others he organises in and around the county – have raised more than a staggering £1 million for various charities.
This year’s Strictly Northampton will be raising money for The Teenage Cancer Trust and the 24 couples taking part this year have already raised £15,000 for the charity.
“The couples will be dancing a jive, American smooth waltz and a group freestyle,” explains Andrzej. “The theme is the movies and we want to raise as much money as possible.”
Strictly Northampton is being compered by ITV Daybreak’s weather presenter, Northampton-born Laura Tobin, and BBC Radio Northampton presenter Mark Dean.
