Thrapston bookies hit by armed robbery

A man believed to have been armed with a weapon threatened staff at a Thrapston bookmakers before making off with cash.

The incident took place at Coral in Thrapston’s High Street shortly after 9.20pm on Saturday (July 30).

A man entered the store with what is thought to have been a weapon inside a plastic bag. Threats were allegedly made to staff and money was demanded.

A police spokesman said cash was handed over to the offender and he is thought to have left with another man who was standing outside.

Both then made their way to the rear of the premises and a vehicle – described as a small, dark blue hatchback – departed shortly afterwards, before travelling towards Islip along High Street.

The suspects are both described as white.

One was described as being between 5ft 6in and 5ft 7in, slim and in his 20s. He wore a grey hooded top, grey bottoms with blue and white trainers, gloves and a face covering.

The other man is believed to have been 5ft 8in and wore grey clothing.
