The free event, which is supported by South Northamptonshire Council (SNC) and takes place on Saturday and Sunday, drew in crowds of more than 30,000 visitors last year.

There will be a number of attractions including dog shows, fairground rides, vintage vehicle displays, historical re-enactments, ferret-racing, and an array of trade and work boats.

Councillor Peter Rawlinson, SNC’s portfolio holder for finance and procurement, said: “The Blisworth Canal Festival is a fantastic way to bring the community together.

“Since the first festival in 2010, of which around 200 people attended, the event has rapidly grown in popularity thanks to the hard work and dedication of volunteers and local supporters.

“Today the event has become a major attraction in South Northants and one that we are proud to support to help ensure its continued viability.”

Parking, mooring and entrance to the festival is completely free. Festival brochures are available for £2 and all of the proceeds will go directly into projects to enhance the local canal environment.

The festival is organised by Blisworth Canal Partnership, a voluntary non-profit organisation.
