Charitable swimmers will help to raise funds for local causes at a swimarathon today.
The four Rotary clubs of Northampton have joined together to host the event at Northampton High School in Newport Pagnell Road this afternoon.
Residents will swim in teams of up to six for one hour each to raise money for The Hope Centre, the Alzheimer’s Society and Women’s Aid.
Paul Simpson, member of the swimarathon organising committee, said: “The primary objective was a community event where people of all ages, who don’t have to be Olympic swimmers, could come along and do it and raise money for local community organisations.
“The event has so far exceeded expectations and we are absolutely delighted.”
He said the four clubs, Northampton Rotary Club, Northampton West Rotary Club, Nene Valley Rotary Club and Northampton Becket Rotary Club, would host the event again next year.
