Hundreds of supporters of the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan people packed into the Guildhall for the annual raising of the Tibetan flag.

Mr Chonpel Tsering, His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Representative in Europe, was welcomed by local campaigner Caroline Scattergood and the Leader of Northampton Borough Council, Councillor David Mackintosh along with many councillors, representatives from the Church of England and other religious groups plus supporters from Northampton and across the country.

A special prayer of thanks was said, as the flag was raised, for the late councillor and former deputy lieutenant of Northamptonshire, Terry Wire, for all his work on behalf of the Tibetan cause. His place was taken this year by his wife
