'˜Super Mario' brothers David and James complete fun run challenge raising £500 for Parkinsons UK
Twin six-year-old brothers who took part in a fun run to raise money for a charity that helps their nan have raised more than £500.
Proud mum, Leigh-Ann Monk, said all the family were there to support David and James, who were raising money for Parkinsons UK. Their nan, Annie, had been diagnosed with the disease on the day that the pair had been born. Six years on, Annie has experienced a rapid deterioration in her health and has been left with limited abilities.
Leigh-Ann, from Northampton, says the brothers are very close to their nan and wanted to raise money at the Milton Keynes Superheroes fun run on Bank Holiday Monday.
“Nan, Grandad, Mum and Dad were there to cheer them along. We were all very proud of them,” she said. “The crowd cheered them on with loads of people spotting ‘Mario and Luigi’ as well as receiving shouts of praise for their chosen charity.”
Leigh-Ann said they would be delighted to read their story in the paper and added: “It is such a lovely, positive story to read for those in our region suffering from Parkinsons Disease.”
