The Sugar and Spice Club in Duston has been holding the fund-raising event for local charities on the second Saturday in November and, at one time, membership levels were up to 120.

A spokeswoman for the club said: "People always look forward to this event and have supported us very well.

"Now, with a membership of just 30 – including one founder member – we are no longer ‘spring chickens’ and have reluctantly decided that our Autumn Fayre on Saturday November 12, 2016 at Duston Community Centre (starting at 2pm) will be our very last one.

"So, we would like to thank – very sincerely – all the local trades people, Clubs and general public who have supported us over so many years and helped us to raise just over £86,000 which, in turn, we have donated to local charities and deserving individuals and, incidentally, including many thousands of pounds to Northampton General Hospital.

"The club will continue to meet every second and fourth Tuesday of each month (except for August, December and January) when we have a good variety of speakers to entertain us.

"The club will also be celebrating its 50th anniversary next September – details of which will be publicised in the New Year – so if there are any former members of the club out there who would like to join us then, we would be delighted to hear from them.
